Application scope
JIS G3459 (Welding) specifies stainless steel welded pipes for piping, typically delivered in solution-annealed condition. The grades are primarily austenitic, including ultra-low carbon and stabilized varieties, balancing corrosion resistance, weldability, and hygiene. The standard specifies dimensional, mechanical, and corrosion resistance tests, suitable for fluid transport and piping systems at ambient to medium temperatures, and particularly convenient for field welding and connection installation.
Typical applications
Widely used in chemical and petrochemical process piping, food and beverage fluid pipelines, as well as building water supply and drainage, hot water and fire protection pipelines, and also for gas transmission and general public works pipelines. Ultra-low carbon and stabilized varieties are suitable for applications requiring high corrosion resistance after welding. Due to the economy and good weldability of welded pipes, they are commonly used medium and large diameter transmission pipes in general piping systems.
