Application scope

ASTM A53/A53M Type S specifies seamless carbon steel pipes for transporting general fluids such as steam, water, gas, and air. It is available in two grades, A and B, and in both galvanized and ungalvanized delivery forms. The standard specifies the composition, tensile and bending properties, flattening, and other processing properties, combining transport capability with a certain structural load-bearing capacity. It is suitable for medium- and low-pressure fluid pipelines and general-purpose piping with threaded or welded connections.

Typical applications

Commonly used in building and municipal water supply and drainage pipelines, gas pipelines, low-pressure steam and air pipelines, fire protection pipelines, and cable protection conduits; also used as structural pipes for railings, supports, etc. Grade B has slightly higher strength and wider applications. With its excellent pressure-bearing and sealing properties, and support for threaded, flanged, or welded connections, seamless pipe is suitable for medium to low pressure, versatile fluid transportation, and lightweight structural applications.
