Application scope

EN 10025-5 specifies hot-rolled steel sheets for atmospheric corrosion resistant structural steels, covering weather-resistant grades such as S235 and S355 containing copper and chromium, and various impact ratings, suitable for welded, bolted, and riveted structures. The standard classifies steels according to strength and low-temperature toughness, and allows for exposed service by alloying to form a protective rust layer. Products are delivered hot-rolled, balancing strength, toughness, and weather resistance, suitable for exposed, maintenance-free load-bearing structures.

Typical applications

Widely used in exposed steel structures of bridges and buildings, such as beams, columns, trusses, curtain wall frames, and facade components, as well as in railway vehicle bodies, containers, and large outdoor equipment. Due to its resistance to atmospheric corrosion and paint-free properties, it is commonly found in outdoor sculptures, landscape features, railings, and urban furniture, among other art and municipal engineering projects. Suitable for applications requiring long-term exposure, limited maintenance, and a stable rust-colored appearance.
