Application scope

ASTM A514/A514M specifies high-strength alloy structural steel plates delivered in quenched and tempered condition, covering grades Gr.A, Gr.B, Gr.E, Gr.F to Gr.S. These plates undergo alloying and heat treatment to achieve high yield strength, good hardenability and low-temperature impact toughness, and weldability. They are primarily intended for load-bearing structures and heavy-duty mechanical components that are connected by welding.

Typical applications

It is widely used in high-stress structural components of engineering machinery, excavator booms, crane booms and mining crushing equipment, as well as in heavy-duty equipment such as pressure vessels, bridge components and heavy truck frames; with its high strength, it can reduce plate thickness, reduce the weight of the whole machine and improve load-bearing and impact resistance, making it suitable for key load-bearing components that are welded and repeatedly subjected to heavy loads and impacts.
