Application scope

EN 10088-3 specifies the technical delivery conditions for general-purpose corrosion-resistant stainless steel bars, profiles, wires, and semi-finished products, classified according to the European grade system. It covers austenitic, ferritic, martensitic, and duplex structures, taking into account corrosion resistance, machinability, cold forming, and hardenability. The standard specifies delivery conditions and mechanical requirements, and is applicable to the selection of long products for machining and structural load-bearing applications.

Typical applications

Widely used for machining shafts, transmission components, valve stems, as well as fasteners such as bolts and nuts, and pipe fitting blanks. It also serves the manufacturing of parts for medical devices, food machinery, and chemical equipment. The martensitic variety is suitable for cutting tools and wear-resistant parts, the duplex variety is used for structural parts that combine strength and corrosion resistance, and the austenitic variety meets the machining needs of general corrosion-resistant parts and profile components.
