I. Project Background: An Anchor in Turbulent Times

In 2022, global events dealt a severe blow to steel supply chains across Europe and Turkey. Facing more than 20,000 tons of steel inquiries from around the world every day, PAC drew on strong resource integration and supply chain resilience to become the most trusted partner of numerous overseas giants.

The client for this project is a well-known Turkish shipyard. PAC had previously worked with leading Turkish yards including RMK Marine and Cemre, and building on that flawless cooperation, at the end of 2022 we received another major repeat order from the shipyard — a total of 10,911 tons of shipbuilding steel plates.

III. On Site: Armoured-Grade Loading of 10,000 Tons of Plate

Shipbuilding plates demand outstanding corrosion protection and flatness. Handling more than 10,000 tons, we pushed logistics and packaging to the limit:

  1. Moisture protection standing guard in the yard (Figures 1-1 to 1-4): at the port yard, no plate was left exposed. All were fully covered with heavy military-green waterproof tarpaulins and lashed down tightly with thick ropes and nets. Against sea air and possible rain, this armoured protection kept the plates watertight while awaiting loading and eliminated any edge corrosion.
  2. Precision lifting by a giant (Figure 2-1): on loading day, the port deployed a huge red gantry crane (SBMH 40T-38M). The heavy plates were bundled into sturdy base-supported units, lifted smoothly and placed accurately in the hold of the large bulk carrier GLOVIS. Operations proceeded methodically, demonstrating the professional coordination of PAC's logistics team.
  3. A race against the clock at night (Figure 2-2): to catch the vessel's schedule, loading ran around the clock, 24 hours a day. Under the brightly lit night berth, the ship's cranes and experienced site marshals worked in close coordination to complete loading efficiently while guaranteeing absolute safety.

IV. Delivery Results and Conclusion

The 10,911 tons of plates set sail smoothly for Turkey. The client highly praised PAC's ability to maintain such efficient, professional and safe delivery even in an extremely complex global environment.
