Application scope
EN 10028-3 specifies normalized weldable fine-grained steel plates for pressure vessels, including the P275N to P460 series and the NL grade with cryogenic protection. The standard balances strength and low-temperature toughness with a fine-grained structure, and is suitable for welded pressure-bearing shells, serving the manufacture of various pressure vessels.
Typical applications
It is commonly used in the manufacture of pressure vessel shells, heat exchangers, and various storage tanks, as well as containers and pressure-bearing components with cryogenic operating requirements. The fine-grained structure of normalizing provides good strength, weldability, and low-temperature toughness, making it suitable for pressure-bearing equipment and various pressure-bearing components that bear pressure at room temperature to lower temperatures and require reliable toughness. It is a common material choice for related pressure-bearing equipment and pipelines.
