Application scope
ABS Rules Part 2 is the American Bureau of Shipping's shipbuilding specifications, which stipulate the requirements for structural steel materials used in ships. The grades include ordinary strength A, B, D, E and high strength AH, DH, EH. The specifications specify requirements for composition, tensile strength, and low-temperature impact resistance, emphasizing good weldability and low-temperature toughness. Delivery must be approved by the relevant classification society or system, and it applies to hull frame components.
Typical applications
Widely used in the hull structure framework, beams, columns, and stiffeners of ABS-classed vessels, various types of steel can be combined to form the hull frame. Ordinary strength grades are used in standard areas, while high-strength grades are used in high-stress and weight-reduction zones. With its good weldability and low-temperature toughness, it is suitable for ship hull structures primarily assembled by welding that meet classification society requirements.
