Application scope
JIS G4317 specifies hot-rolled stainless steel sections, including angle steel, channel steel, and flat steel, generally delivered in the annealed state. The grades are primarily austenitic but also include ferritic varieties, balancing corrosion resistance, load-bearing capacity, weldability, and formability. Austenitic varieties offer better corrosion resistance, while ferritic varieties are more economical. The standard specifies the dimensions and mechanical requirements of the sections, suitable for the fabrication of corrosion-resistant structures and frames.
Typical applications
Widely used in building steel structures, platforms and supporting frames, chemical equipment supports and pipe gallery components, as well as in the skeleton and decorative structures of food machinery and equipment. With its good resistance to atmospheric and media corrosion, it is suitable for humid, corrosive or hygienic environments. The molybdenum-containing austenitic variety has even stronger corrosion resistance and is often used as corrosion-resistant load-bearing beams and columns, connectors and exposed decorative profiles.
